Licensed and Insured:

Hunny Do Remodeling, Inc. & Artificial Grass is a fully licensed company.
California Contractors License Number is 828089.
We have been in business since 2001.

Beware of companies that don't have a California License Number on any of their advertisement.
It is required by law to post their license number on any advertisement including the web.  It is unlawful in the State of California to post having a Bond with the license because a Bond is required by the State before you can recieve a license.

Hunny Do has actually installed over a million square foot of Residential Turf.
Anyone can look up county records to see a company's profit margin for any year.

Some companies try to make themselves bigger by over stating the amount of square footage without proof. One company says that they installed 15 million sq ft, but in fact has only been in business for just over a year. How can you install that much turf without a license?  Not Possible!

Price:

Price of Artificial Grass has risen due to the water demands in Southern California.
Hunny Do vows to keep the synthetic grass prices at a minimum. We discount artificial grass in all areas we service. We carry over 30 different types of artificial grass cost from $5 to $13 sq ft installed. We also have specials on products we over stock. Other company's start at $11 and up.
Tricks that other company's pull when measuring your project. The majority of companies measure the square footage of your yard small, but charge you more for the turf.  Because you pay more per square foot of turf, they can account for the extra turf needed. They usually use scraps they occurred from a previous project.

Hunny Do measures by the 12-15 foot Rule. Since the turf comes in 12 to 15 foot widths, we measure actual square footage the divide by turf width rounded up to the nearest whole number, then times by turf roll widths. This gives us the amount of turf we will quote you. Hunny Do adds an extra foot or two to the turf roll to make it easier for our installers. If pieces left over, we keep. We may or maynot use the extra turf but any extra pieces belongs to HDAG. You can pay for the extra grass @ $3 sf if you choose.  See our measuring technique example below.

Example: Your yard is  245 sf ÷ 15 roll width = (16.333333 rounded up to 17) X 15 roll width = 255 sq ft X TURF PRICE = Your price
We will bring an extra 30 sq ft  to make it  285 sq ft to install your job.

When a customer calls us and says Hunny Do's price is better than everyone else, but the size of the square footage is more than your competitors, this is why. We can lower the square footage to match our competitors, but you will definately have more seams and/or we would use scraps from another project just like our competors. This would be your choice.
95% of the time it comes down to price of your project. We will provide you with one of the best quailty turf in the world and wow you with our superb pricing, warranties, track record, testimonials and installation crews.

Warranty:   What is a “TRUE” synthetic turf warranty?

There are different warranty options available when it comes to synthetic grass.
You need to make sure that the warranty they claim to have is a “TRUE”.

All Synthetic Grass Manufactures worldwide give an 8 year warranty on product. Tiger Express where we pick-up our products, gives Hunny Do a 10 year manufactures warranty because we are Authorized Dealers. For additional charge, Hunny Do can add five more years to the warranty but because we know that the turf will last 25 years plus without problems we don't recommend it.

Because Hunny Do has a superior product, it stands behind its product by offering a warranty that covers many more potential issues that could arise with a synthetic grass installation as compared to most other turf companies, including protection against fading from sunlight, discoloration from urine or chemicals/detergents, etc.  So, pay attention to the warranty and make sure to understand what the company's policy is should you need service after the installation.

Permeable Backings: Cloth verses Preforated Holes

What is a Permeable Backing?

Permeable Backing is a backing in which allows water to drain through by either cloth or preforated type products.

Definitions:
Yarn:   The fibers which are visible. Usually green in landscape applications.
Tuft:    Process in which all yarn material is woven into the primary backing.
Primary Backing:   First layer of material used by all turf manufactures to tuft yarn.
Secondary Backing:   Either Urethane coated or a Cloth hotmelted to primary backing.
Tuft Lock Strength:   How much force needed to pull out yarn fibers when completed.

Cloth Type Backings:

Comprising a tufted material having a hot melt adhesive applied to a back side of the primary backing and adding a weed cloth which is the secondary backing at a rate of no more than about 12 oz/yd2, wherein the turf has a tuft lock strength of at least 5 pounds in accordance with the tuft lock test of ASTM-D 1335 and a water permeability of at least about 40 inches/hour in accordance with test DIN 18-035.

In other words, this type backing typically has a weed cloth (material which is made to prevent weeds from pertruding through the fabric) material is hotmelted to a the primary backing. It is considered 100% premeable because water drains through the weave and weed cloth part of the material. These two layers (Primary and Secondary)are glued together to make one.

Preforated holes type backing;  Is also called Urethane Backing.

Comprising a tufted material (primary backing) having melted Polyurethane poured or slurred on top of the primary backing to make the secondary backing. During the hardening process of the secondary backing, holes are extruded in the secondary backing. This process makes the preforated type backings twice as thick and tougher than cloth type backings. Urethane backing turf is the most common type of backing in the industry. This turf is specifically perforated with holes engineered to accommodate the normal drainage requirements of rainstorms and snowstorms. The water simply drains through the small drainage holes into the Earth.  This type of turf has a tuft lock strength of at least 8-10 pounds in accordance with the tuft lock test of ASTM-D 1335. The fibers will usually break instead of pull out like the cloth type backings. Water permeability of at least 28 inches of rain/hour, which makes both backings drain better than real grass. Perforated systems have been the standard for turf drainage in Europe and the United States for over 20 years.
Perforated backing turf does however requires a separate 15 - 25 year weed barrier under the turf (included in our low pricing) which will let water / urine through but won't let weeds come up. This barrier resists vegetation, mold or urine smells.

The sand infill, which is used in both woven and preforated installations will help to absorb the water which will act as a natural wick (Like a paper towel).  Compare for yourself!

Beware of other company's claims:

Other company's claim that our turf doesn't drain, and/or say because of the holes in the back of our turf, that urine will not go through the holes or anything to make a sale, All not true. "We wouldn't be in business for over 10 years if our turf didn't drain!" In fact, when challenged under a faucet with the same amount of water, our turf drains and dries faster. The cloth turf stays wet for hours. Imagine dog urine clinging to the cloth for hours.

Test #1   Ask each sale associate to leave their sample and try the water test.
Test #2 Take the sample of the cloth type backing and put it in the sun for 30 minutes. Pull 1(One) fiber out slowly. Then peel off the secondary backing. Then try doing the same with the Urethane Backing.  After your test, email me with the results.

To be honest, both types of backings:

  • Are 100% permeable
  • Will last over 20 years if it is an American made product.
  • Will drain better than real grass
  • Are approved by the State of California
  • Do not mold
  • Are great for pets and will not hold urine smells

Lets be real; It all comes down to Warranty, Integrety, Service, and most of all Price.
