Some Companies try to use scare tactics to sell their grass.
Don't let the other company's fool you by saying that preforated grass won't drain and leaves puddles. Preforated turf drains 21" inches of rain an hour. In California, we have had up to 8-1/2" inches of rain this year. If you put preforated grass under the faucet and put the cloth backed grass under the faucet with the same amount of water, Preforated grass drains faster. Good Job to those who have called us to tell us that they put both types of turf under the faucet and seen for themselves. Just make sure that when you get a quote, get a sample of that company's turf including ours.
Dog Urine
Fact: Turf with the cloth backings retains water/urine because of the so called weed fabric manufactured on the backing. They say that when dogs urinate on preforated grass, that it doesn't drain. That a dog would have to aim directly into the holes in our turf, but in fact, it works the same or better than cloth backed grass. These are all tactics to sell you synthetic grass at a higher prices. DON'T BE FOOLED INTO PAYING HIGHER PRICES.
Reason Turf grass drains better than real grass is because of the recycled base material used underneath the turf which holds water like a sponge without losing its stability. You see, when it rains, water drains through the grass and into our dustless silica sand (which we install on top of the turf) through the holes in the turf and into the base material, then drains into your soil. After that, water will disperse only as fast as your soil will allow it to drain. Other companies will say that their turf drains faster than others but truthfully it depends on your soil. Common sense tells you that.
Many years in business, we have not had anyone complain that dog urine does not drain through the grass.
We don't use rubber infill which could contain toxins because it made from recycled tires. We use dustless silica sand, It acts as a natural wick and disperses the water/urine fast through the turf.
EXAMPLE: Like a Bounty paper towel put on a bead of water.
If you are still convinced that the cloth backed grass is your best choice, we can sell you that type. We will only give you a 8 year warranty and a 1 year installation warranty because we don't feel that this grass is going to last. We will still beat other company's prices!
We feel that the Preforated Grass is better, and will give you the 15 year warranty on product and 10 year installation warrranty.
So far as of January 27th, 2010, 8-1/2" of rain has fallen in Southern California and all of our grass installations has proven to drain better than real grass without puddles or problems.
