Some Companies try to use scare tactics to sell their grass.
Don't let the other company's fool you by saying that preforated grass won't drain and leaves puddles. Preforated turf drains 27" inches of rain an hour. In California, we have had up to 38.55" inches of rain this year. If you put preforated grass under the faucet and put the cloth backed grass under the faucet with the same amount of water, Preforated grass drains faster. Good Job to those who have called us to tell us that they put both types of turf under the faucet and seen for themselves. Just make sure that when you get a quote, get a sample of that company's turf including ours.
Dog Urine / Smell:
Fact: Turf with the cloth backings retains water/urine because of the so called weed fabric manufactured on the backing.
Lie: They say when dogs urinate on preforated grass, that it doesn't drain. That a dog would have to aim directly into the holes in our turf. They say urine gets trapped in the holes.
Fact: Our turf drains the same or better than cloth backed grass.
These are all tactics to sell you synthetic grass at a higher prices.
Test: Put the cloth backing turf under a light bulb for a few minutes, then pull on the green fibers and watch the fibers pull out with ease. You won't see that in the urethane type backings! Take our turf and use a Golfer's Pitching Wedge and hit our turf as hard as you can. Compare the difference. DON'T BE FOOLED INTO PAYING HIGHER PRICES.
Reason Turf grass drains better than real grass is because of the recycled base material used underneath the turf which absorbs water like a sponge without losing its stability. You see, when it rains, water drains through the grass and into our infill (which we install on top of the turf) through the holes in the turf and into the base material, then drains into your soil. After that, water will disperse only as fast as your soil will allow it to drain. Other companies will say that their turf drains faster than others but truthfully it depends on your soil. Common sense tells you that.
Many years in business, we have not had anyone complain that dog urine smells nor does not drain through the grass. We use ZeoFill Pet System, It destroys the ammonium gases and the bacteria in the urine and disperses the left over water through the turf. We don't use rubber infill which could contain toxins because it made from recycled tires.

So far this year, as of December 16th, 2011, 38.55" of rain has fallen in the Los Angeles Region and all of our grass installations has proven to drain better than real grass without puddles or problems.
